Opportunities Abroad: Examining Experiences of 4 Female African-American OC Graduates in W. Europe
AmeriCorps Member Katrina Walker will present her research into Anna Julia Cooper, Edmonia Lewis, Mary Burnett Talbert and Ruth Anna Fisher. This illustrated presentation will examine the success that four African-American Oberlin alumnae had in the art, academic, activist and archival worlds in Europe. Their achievements in various fields are often contrasted with the barriers they faced in the United States. These racial barriers came even from within their own educational communities or activist circles, and in some instances Oberlin itself.
This free 30-minute presentation plus Q&A session will be presented via Zoom. Registered participants will receive the invitation link a few days before the program.
