Tour and history walk descriptions
Oberlin Heritage Center camps are open to boys and girls ages 8 to 13. Each two-day camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Camps are designed to stimulate children’s creativity and whet their appetites for history, architecture, art, and the tastes and sounds of other cultures and other times. Camp will be held at the Oberlin Depot at 240 South Main Street, sometimes with walking field trips to interesting places nearby, weather permitting. For all days children should bring a bag lunch and dress for being outside for certain activities. Simple snacks are provided.
Meet our teachers! Liz Schultz is the Museum Education and Tour Coordinator for the Oberlin Heritage Center. She has degrees in archaeology, anthropology, and museum studies with a focus in museum education. Liz enjoys inspiring curiosity, creativity, and an appreciation for diverse cultures, past and present. Kaitlyn Goss is an AmeriCorps member with degrees in anthropology and history who is working in Northeast Ohio to support local history organizations. Camps are assisted by an adult intern or volunteer, and young volunteers from the community.
Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. No refunds will be made within one week prior to the session the registrant is scheduled to attend. Maximum enrollment is 17 children per camp. Camps may be cancelled if a minimum enrollment (8) is not met by one week prior to the start date.
